Elections belong to the people. It's their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters.

Read the following information to learn about the candidates running for office. We are fortunate to have a number of dedicated residents who are willing to serve our community.

Bob Berkman – Hollis Budget Committee

“I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the Hollis Budget Committee. My passion and concern for our town is the primary reason why I feel called to serve our community. To me, the Budget Committee has a unique and important responsibility. It is the only committee that reviews the entire picture of our town’s spending, as well as, making key recommendations on financial issues to the Select and Hollis School Boards. My business and financial experience has provided me with many skills; I know how to appropriate money and place it where it’s appreciated and put to good use. I will bring a coherent commonsense approach in a transparent manner to the Budget Committee. I endeavor to represent the whole community and not any individual group or point of view. I will bring a fresh perspective and new ideas for real solutions to old problems and challenges. I will honor and respect other viewpoints and approach each person with dignity and respect. I would consider it a privilege to work for and alongside the residents of Hollis to achieve our shared goals. Together we can ensure Hollis continues to be a great place to live. Thank you in advance for your vote and support.”

Charlotte Constantian – Supervisor of the Checklist

“I am running for the position of Supervisor of the Checklist [6-year term]. I was the practice manager for my husband’s medical practice for 35 years and worked with extensive database files and information on a daily basis.  I have been the Administrative Director for the New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons since 1991 and keep their membership database in order and up-to-date. Now that I am retired, I have the chance to give back and get involved in Hollis.  I know I can make the job of Supervisor of the Checklist easier and more streamlined with the skills I have, keeping the lists accurate and up-to-date.  I promise to do my very best - it will make Hollis even better!”

Paula Papineau – Library Trustee

"I am a 30+ year resident of Hollis who raised my three children here along with my husband Scott.  I am recently retired and looking to volunteer my time and give back to this amazing community. I am running for the office of Hollis Library Trustee (3 year term) because I believe the library should be a community resource for all, and a place where everyone can develop the love of books and reading as I have."

Raul Blanche – HB COOP Budget Committee

“I’m running for re-election of a 3-year term, to the Cooperative Hollis-Brookline Budget Committee.  My objective is to maintain a balanced approach to creating and recommending realistic, cost-effective budgets to the district. Hollis offers one of the best and cost-effective school programs in the State and we want to ensure we keep it that way into the future. In accordance with State regulation, over the last 15 years approximately 15 million dollars has been returned to the district to reduce taxation as not all budgets were fully spent. Moving forward, my objective is to ensure that budgets are accurate and consistent with needs, and left-over funds are fully returned to the district.”
